OBAMA! If only my mother could have witnessed last night. Not that she and other angels were not there, but it would have been fun to have seen her excitement. She really wanted him to win.
Having grown up in Memphis during a time of almost total segregation (busing started in the fall of 1973) and having been called the "N" word at the University of Tennessee by whites, it is overwhelmingly comforting, joyful, humbling, sobering to know that this country is not only capable of but did in fact elect an African American to the highest rank in this country.
Our history of human abuse such as biological warfare with the native Americans and an inhumane slavery system gives me hope in our country and mankind. But more than just the warm and fussies of us "all getting along", there is a lot of work to be done. This will take the same kind of precision that was taken in capturing the Whitehouse. It will take the same kind of discipline and focus demonstrated by a well-oiled campaign machine. It will take the diplomacy that has been lacking in recent years during an era of 'entitlement'. Let's pray that over the next four years President Obama can continue, with consistency, the methodical and successful formula he has used to gain the office.

Welcome to My Blog
Welcome to my blog. I can't imagine the covered wagon days, when it took several weeks to move yourself across the country. I can't imagine trying to get a letter to a friend during the pony express. The angst that I feel just thinking about it makes me thankful for the bright minds and creativity of the developers of internet communications.
Technology has come so far since I was a little girl. I remember that my ex-husband thought that my family was rich because we had a color TV! Okay, I'm aging myself. But, I also remember that my son thought the world was gray when I was a child as he watched a black and white TV at my parents home.
We've come a long way, baby!!
Now, I can speak to you from across the globe in a matter of seconds. Welcome to my blog and I appreciate you sharing your thoughts with me.
